Raised in Shah Alam, Darlyn Goh recently completed her Bachelor’s degree in music at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) where she majored in Classical Vocal Performance. During this time she also picked up the cello as a minor and played in the UPM Symphony Orchestra.
She started piano lessons at the age of four under the tutelage of Ms. Jade Lim and Mdm. Betty Ting. After obtaining her Performer’s Certificate from Trinity Guildhall in 2005, she began teaching the piano. She started vocal lessons with Mr. Adsone Mathew in 2007 and later continued with Mdm. Ang Mei Foong where she obtained her ABRSM Grade 8 in Singing. She has participated in master classes with Ms. Katja Nadler, Ms. Nozomi Yamada, Mr. Richard Lewis, Prof. Ren Rong and Dr. Michela Bertagnoli. Currently, she is under the tutelage of Ms. Gynger Soh Bee Teng.
Darlyn has performed in various public and private performances as a soprano soloist as well as a cellist. She sang as a member of the UPM choir and participated in the 2014 Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod. Currently, she is a member of the Eat, Sing and Travel (EST) opera chorus and recently performed in the Voices and Winds Concert featuring Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Donizetti’s L’elisir D’amore. Darlyn is also an active member of the female vocal ensemble, the Opera Bridesmaids which recently made their debut at the Damansara Performing Arts Centre. Recently, she also sang in the Young Choral Academy Chorus with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert celebrating the music of Danny Elfman’s from the films of Tim Burton at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP).
An avid lover of choral music and collaborative piano, Darlyn is an accompanist for choirs and instrumentalists in showcases as well as for wedding gigs, exams and competitions. She currently trains and accompanies her church choir, along with three other school choirs for Young Choral Academy as an External Choir Tutor. Also an enthusiast for music education, she teaches voice and piano during her free time.
Under the supervision of Prof Dr. Made Hood, Darlyn is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in music research at UPM.
