Lai Suk Yin

Ms. Lai Suk Yin is an English/Communication, Theatre Arts, and Film graduate, studying voice under Ms. Soh Bee Teng.  Currently the music director of the Vox Vivacis Youth Chamber Choir, she holds a Kodaly Certificate in Music Education (Primary Level) from the Kodaly Music Education Institute of Australia. She is an active member of the Young KL Singers and has competed with them in the 2010 World Choir Games in Shaoxing, China, returning with a Gold IV diploma in the Folklore Category. She is the resident alto of the Caipifruta Vocal Quartet which obtained a Gold V diploma in the Jazz Category and a Gold II diploma in the Pop Category of the 2010 World Choir Games. In 2011, Caipifruta represented Malaysia in the 1st World Youth Choir Championships in Graz, Austria, returning with two silver medals for the Pop and Jazz categories, respectively. Suk Yin is also a member of the Kuala Lumpur Vocal Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Mak Chi Hoe, as well as the Opera Bridesmaids, a ladies chamber group conducted by Ms. Soh Bee Teng.
Suk Yin is active in the field of choral education, coaching various school and university choirs in Selangor, as well as tutoring both the Kuala Lumpur Children’s Choir, and the Subang Jaya Children’s Choir. She is also an aspiring composer / singer-songwriter. Her first choral composition, ‘Bridge of Birds’, was written for the Young KL Singers’ 2006 production, ‘A Malaysian Affair’, and one of her original songs, ‘Malaysian Love Song’, has been featured in the Kuala Lumpur Performing Art Centre’s 2015 production of Uda Dan Dara.
